The research lab is initiated and led by BNA Onderzoek and has its horizon on 2040 and the roadmap to it. What will the future city be like concerning density, energy, new mobility, circularity and other innovations? The research will be done in collaboration with TU Delft, Vereniging Deltametropool, gemeente Amsterdam, Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat, Ministerie van Binnenlandse zaken en Koninkrijkrelaties.
The municipality of Amsterdam uses the term 'Haven-Stad' to refer to the old harbor areas located on the west and on the north-west of the city. These areas, thanks to their size, to their proximity to the city center and to the presence of water, create a unique environment that matches the ambitions of growth of the municipality. In fact, the city of Amsterdam wants to expand in these districts with new houses and new workspaces, creating a vibrant, attractive, easily accessible and sustainable new urban area.
